30 min Meal Ideas

Calling all you ladies, I need your HELPPPPPP... I have always been one of those women that struggle in the kitchen; as far back as I can remember. It's like my mind can't process how to come up with different ideas; "what is wrong with me???" I definitely don't have the creative gene when it comes to cooking, and it doesn't help when you also have a picky little eater running around the house. I have to give all of the credit to my hubby; he is the main cook in this household. I do like to bake, but cooking is just not my specialty. I would love to learn how to create some good 30 min meals; that my whole family would love, and hopefully it will also help to get me back into the kitchen more; than my beloved hubby. Please help this struggling wife, and mommy. Do any of you have the same struggles as me??? please tell me I'm not the only one out there... I would love for you ladies to share your stories, and any ideas you may have.

This would really help out this poor mommy:-)

Also one more thing I have to share... When I was in Costco the other day; I came across this book. Have any of you ladies heard of this cookbook? Like I stated above; I have a picky little eater in my house, and the only thing he wants is, cookies, pudding, pancakes, Mcdonald's, etc. etc. if it was up to him; he would eat junk food all day long. He tries to work his magic on us (but it doesn't work:-). I almost bought this book the other day, it looks like it has some great ideas... If you know anything about this book; I would love some feedback. Is it worth buying? This mommy is starting to get desperate can't you tell...

  1. I bought that cook book at the flea market about a month ago($2!!). It is pretty good. I have made a few things from it so far. On my blog you can find the recipe for Peanut Butter and Jelly Muffins that is from this book. My little guy loves them! I have taken some of the ideas and added them to my own recipes- pureed carrots in spaghetti sauce, pureed squash is macaroni and cheese. It might be worth it for you to buy it. Or check you library and see if they have it or can get it for you. :)

  5. HI...Yes, I bought that book oh, about a year ago and it has some really great ideas in it. I initially bought it because I saw the author on the Oprah Show and she had Oprah try all the recipes and I guess they are REALLY good! (Im not one that spends a lot of time in the kitchen though and it does require you to puree some things first...even before making the recipes.)
If you are a real go getter in the kitchen I do recommend it, plus its a good way to get our kids to eat healthier!!!
Thanks so much for the follow...Im following you back too! (And I LOVE your blog design...so cute!)

  6. Ugh! I feel ya! I suck in the kitchen!

Loving your blog! Stopping by from MBC (even though I'm not a mom, so I hope they don't kick me out) to say hello! You have an adorable blog :) I'm a Future Baby Makin' Machine, trying to prepare to become a mommy! Hope you'll share some of your wisdom with me!

  7. Wish I had an answer for you but I'm not the cook in the house either. My husband does most of the cooking. I try and I'm not terrible but I only know a few dishes and need a recipe. My husband can make something just by throwing together whatever he finds in the house and it usually is something delicious. Sorry I can't help but hey, you're not alone! ;-)

  8. Just stopping by to say hello! And thank you for following me via Google Friend Connect!

My advice (and what I do to keep from getting overwhelmed) I do regular easy things for 6 days a week (spaghetti, tacos, grilled cheeses etc.) and try one new recipe. If we like it, it gets added to the rotation.

I can cook, but I also hate doing it everyday (my hubs is the main cook too!) so this helps.

  9. I bought the book too about a year ago. It sits out on my counter on it's fancy recipe book holder. I've had it over year and have never used it!!!My family thinks that chicken, tacos, and spaghetti is the only food that exists in this world...b/c that's all I cook! Good luck!

  10. I need to check into that book. I also lack the creative cooking gene, and my husband does too. Buying the taco kits and making it two days a week is our specialty :)

  14. I am new to your blog!

I borrowed this cookbook a year or so ago after hearing about it--I have to say that the main idea is to puree veggies and fruits to "hide" them into foods that you want to feed your kids. I have tried a few recipes where I've done this and my kids have never noticed the difference. Some of my favorites are applesauce and pureed pears in Pancakes, and any veggies pureed into red sauce/gravy.

Like you, I am not wonderful in the kitchen. I seem to make the same boring things night after night, with at least one or two nights a week opting for takeout. I enjoy reading blogs and getting tips for cooking for my family!

    Please visit my blog, too!

  16. I have that cookbook and the dishes are really yummy, but my picky eater isn't fooled. The problem with my picky eater is he does eat fruits and veggies... unfortunately that is ALL he wants to eat!!

  17. I used to love to cook, when I wasn't working full time and over time and then going to softball all night soon as I got home from work.

I looked on it like chemistry, trying new ingredients. And like art, trying new things.

One day I'll get back to it, probably after I retire or when the softball winds down.

I love your background and of course the Carrie Underwood song playing on your site.

  20. I feel that way many times. Lately I've been feeling pretty burnt-out on cooking. I came across this site the other day and have been fun making some of the meals off of it: http://www.gourmetmomonthego.com/
They're all kidish. i.e. football shaped tacos, ghost pancakes, and egg and toast that looks like a baby chick in a nest! I've used a couple of her ideas and adapted for my family and my kids are actually eating! Yey!

  24. I have the book, I haven't make any recipe yet (for some reason got lost, and I just found it!) but I'm going to start. I do love to cook, and twice a month I post mexican recipes in my blog, some are very simple, some are not that simple, but I really enjoy doing it.
